Community Relations Coordinator

About this job:

Community Relations Coordinators help companies with public relations. They help write and select materials for community press releases and assist in preparing other public relations materials to assist community members in better understanding projects. The person for this position will have strong oral/written communication skills and not be afraid to speak publicly and engage with people in the community.

Community Relations Coordinators may perform the following tasks:

  • Respond to requests for information from community members or organizations.
  • Study the objectives and needs of Quintillion to assist in developing public relations strategies that will promote ideas, products, or services.
  • Establish or maintain cooperative relationships with community members and community businesses and governmental entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of publications for internal and external audiences, including project newsletters and social media.
  • Confer with other Quintillion staff to identify trends and key interest groups or concerns and provide advice on community engagement.
  • Arrange public appearances or activities to increase public awareness and promote goodwill campaigns.

Preparation and Training for this Position:

A high school diploma or GED is required. Most people employed in this field have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university typically in public relations, or communications.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

As part of this role, it is expected that there will be some technical reading and training required to empower the coordinator with knowledge of broad networking terms and concepts that may require some self-study.

Sr. Network Engineer

Reports to: VP of Network Engineering & Operations

PURPOSE

The Sr. Network Engineer is a key role supporting development and operations of the Quintillion telecommunication network.

The incumbent manages projects associated with building and enhancing networks and is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the network, including administration and management of network security systems. Network engineering, security administration, and network operations and maintenance involve working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and coordinating and directing the work of network managed service providers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Network and Systems Operations

  • Participates as a stakeholder in the engineering and planning of Quintillion’s networks.
  • Performs day-to-day operations and maintenance of Quintillion’s networks, both hands-on and in cooperation with network managed service providers (contractors).
  • Performs day-to-day operations and maintenance of Quintillion’s OSS Servers and VM infrastructure, both hands-on and in cooperation with any IT managed service providers (contractors).
  • Support development of network performance standards, develop recurring performance reporting, and address network performance deficiencies
  • Supports development and implementation of network maintenance plans
  • Supports development of network and server configuration control procedures.
  • Supports development of network service provisioning procedures and complete customer service provisioning activities.
  • Plans and deploys resources required for optimal network operation.
  • Participates in developing client solutions through Quintillion’s networks. Ensures service commitments to clients regarding network operations are met.
  • Leads and executes projects required to meet network operations goals.
  • Promptly resolves escalated network troubles

Vendor Management

  • Monitors contractor performance against performance standards, and network protocols and standards. Takes appropriate corrective actions as needed.

Network Security

  • Supports development and implementation of network and system security plans
  • Implement and administer secure network and system access, identity, and access management capabilities
  • Perform network monitoring and auditing, network scanning, rogue device detection, and patch management

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct reports at this time. This position is responsible for overseeing the work of contractors engaged to build and maintain Quintillion’s networks.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Experience

A minimum of five years telecom network operations experience in technical roles, which includes the following demonstrated experience:

  • A minimum of three years telecom engineering and/or operations experience, network management application administration, and/or network security
  • Specific technology knowledge and experience in subsea telecom, DWDM transport, carrier Ethernet, IP Network Security, Telecom network management application administration, and MPLS.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Possess and maintain a high degree of expertise in network operations technology, protocols, and standards.
  • Superior collaboration and consensus building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications business environment.
  • Expertise with MS Office, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Expertise with network monitoring and management application administration.
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux system administration and VM environments.
  • COMPTIA Network+, Security+ or other equivalent security certification
  • Hands-on Technical Experience with Telecommunications and Networks, Security Solutions (Firewalls, IDS/ IPS, SIEM, Vulnerability Assessment Tools) Access Control Systems, and Physical Security Systems.
  • Knowledge of network access, identity, and access management; IT security principles and methods.
